The Bachelor of General Studies degree at ASU requires 120 credit hours, with 45 credit hours of upper division—39 credit hours in the major (40 for freshmen) and 81 outside. Students are also required to take ASU 101: The ASU Experience (for freshmen only) and COM 494: Society and the Individual, a capstone seminar that examines individual and societal forces on communication practice.
