Our writing courses are designed to prepare students to enter the various majors offered at the Downtown Phoenix campus—Nursing, Public Programs, Journalism—as well as their unique academic and professional conversations. Our English faculty offers an array of writing courses—from a critically oriented curriculum to creative and literary curricula—and our interdisciplinary collaborations with the various Downtown campus departments have helped us to develop discipline-appropriate, highly focused approaches to the teaching of writing. Furthermore, our courses enable students to make the necessary critical connections between their own identities and their future professional roles, and in addition, between their future writing endeavors and their and socio-cultural environments.
