The Science, Technology and Society program (STS) offers both a minor for non-STS majors and a certificate that is available to non-degree-seeking students and practicing professionals. The minor is available to students regardless of their major field of specialization. We encourage students to consider a minor in STS. We live in a 21st-century world characterized by rapid technological change and uncertainty. Mastering the intricacies of the interrelationship between technology and human systems will enhance a degree in any area and arm graduates with the insights and skills required for success in any endeavor.
The minor in STS requires 18 semester hours of coursework, 12 hours of which must be upper-division courses. Students who minor in STS must have a minimum GPA of 2.00 for all courses that count toward the minor. Courses that count toward the minor must have a grade of “C” or higher. A minimum of six upper-division hours in the minor must be taken in residence at the Polytechnic campus.
